This Week in Comics 10/20/10 – Batman/Superman #77

Batman/Superman #77

The most notable comic that came out this week, in my opinion, has to be Batman/Superman #77. This month’s issue focus’s on a short team up between the new Robin, Damian Wayne, and Supergirl.

Damian is such an asshole but I don’t know why he’s so much likable than the other rude Robin, Jason Todd. I think Damian’s immaturity and arrogance works really well when he has to interact with other heroes like Dick Grayson and Supergirl. He’s also a bad-ass remember?:

Anyways, this issue is just a quick fun ride if you’re a fan of Damian. Sure, Supergirl is the costar, but Robin is the real treat in this story.

Happy Free Comic Book Day!

Which was yesterday!

Free comic book day was pretty cool, it was nice to see so many adults and kids at my local comic book store. I went with my little brothers and my younger cousin. They all love comic book characters and super heroes and all that but they don’t actually read them… They just flip though my issues and look at the pictures -_- . So I thought this would be a good opportunity to get them into the hobby.

That’s not me btw thats my alliterate cousin, Johnny

Aside from some cool comics I also got a sweet Iron Man 2 poster with the suit case armor.

If you missed FC, there’s always next year. Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday of May and you can find more info about it at freecomicbookday.com.

They even have a little video by Heroes actor Milo Ventimiglia promoting FCBD.

That’s all I gots to say, gotta go back to readin my comics,
Latr!

This Week in Comics 4/28/10 – Iron Man and X-Force

Invincible Iron Man #25

WRITER: Matt Fraction
PENCILS/COVER: Salvador Larroca

Issue #25 comes out this week and with the new issue and story arc, a new armor for Iron Man! This issue was pretty heavy with info and exposition but Matt Fraction keeps it interesting even without much action in the book. The sci-fi fans of Iron Man will be happy because this issue introduces a lot of big concepts to the science of Iron Man, mirroring Warren Ellis’ Extremis story. Usually Larrocadoes a good job drawing Iron Man and is foes in armor, but I really had to get use to how he drew faces and people. They just looked kind of chubby and deformed at times.  In this issue it seems like he’s upped his style, since his faces don’t bother me as much.

The new armor is sweet, and Fraction actually gives readers a good reason and story behind the need of it. And man-o-man the marketing and timing of this release cannot be perfect for the Iron Man 2 movie because I AM SO STOKED about watching it in theaters next week!

-Cover of the Week-

X-Force #26

COVER BY: Adi Granov

I haven’t read it but I love almost anything Adi Granov does. Especially his Iron Man work.

Ok I guess that’s it guys, there wasn’t many exceptional picks this week for me but I’ll be back on Saturday to talk about FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!

Latr!

This Week in Comics 4/21/10

Dark Wolverine #85

If you love Daken as much as I do, check this out. This is the beginning of a crossover with Wolverine: Origins and it starts off awesome! I don’t know much about the character Romulus besides that he’s some kind of Super Claw Guy hiding in the shadows and fucking with Wolverine and Daken. But it seems like they are finally gonna take him down!

Dark Wolverine 85

Now that's just not fair.

Also I’ve heard that Daken is finally getting his own series simply called “Dark Wolverine”. I guess he’s keeping the name even after Seige?

Batman: Streets of Gotham #11

There’s only one thing that makes this issue so great, Damian Wayne. One of the reason’s he’s my favorite Robin after Dick Grayson is that he’s a capable hero. He could actually hold his own and actually qualifies as a teen (child?) super hero, unlike two other Bat-teens. I mean I love Tim Drake but is he a super acrobat or a trained assassin? And don’t get me started on the new Batgirl…

Damian is hard core. Don’t believe me? Check this panel from this issue:

"Oh don't have a mask? It's cool I'll just make one with the thick blood coming out of my shoulder..."

-Great New Series-

Electric Ant #1

I know this issue came out a few weeks ago, but I just gotta mentions it. I love future stories with great sci-fi themes, and this is a great addition… so far. Electric Ant is about a man named Garson Pool, a successful manufacturer owner. One day he gets into a car accident and loses his hand. No prob, because in the future replacing a limb is easy peasy. One problem, his doctor says he can’t help him because he only helps HUMANS! Turns out Pool is actually an “electric ant”, a type of robot. This turns his world upside down and he wonders what else in his life has been a lie.

I don’t really like the art, just the way he draws faces, but the story relly has me hook so far.

Check it out if you can.

Latr guys.

Marvel VS Capcom 3 Announced!

A few days ago, the newest Marvel vs Capcom game was announced! Finally!

The teaser is here and it is pretty awesome!

It features the Capcom characters, Ryu, Morrigan, and Chris from RE5.
And the Marvel characters Wolverine, Iron Man, and the Hulk.

The gaming news site Kotaku suggests that the characters
“Captain America, Super Skrull, Chun-Li, Deadpool, Felicia, Dante, Frank West, Mephisto, Trish and Doctor Doom…”
may also be playable characters guessing from the silhouettes in promotional art.

Ok, so being all hyped up about this game I go and buy the downloadable version of Marvel vs Capcom 2 on my Playstation 3.

After about 3 minutes I realize that I really suck at MvC2… In fact, I don’t like this game…. at all.
It’s not that the game is any bad, but I just forgot that I really am not good at 2D fighting games…

So I guess I’m not getting this game when it comes out next Spring.

It’s ok thought because I can still wait for Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions to come out in September this year.

Ok then, latr guys.

Go here and here for more info on these Marvel Super Hero-based games.

This Week in Comics 4/14/10

Flash #1

So I haven’t read much of the Flash and I don’t know much about him except what was in The Flash Rebirth, but I loved this issue. I always like Wally as the Flash, but I didn’t after reading this comic.  The story is a clean fresh start to this series, great for new Flash readers like me! The real winner here though is the art! It’s amazing! Francis Manapul draws great characters that look young, cool, and interesting and his Flash looks great! The city itself looked bright and cheerful, like no other city I’ve seen in any other comic. The art is just great!

Chew #10

A great ending to the second story of Chew. Not quite as great as the last but I’m holding my breath for this series.

Siege Young Avengers

I love the Young Avengers but the last story about the Dark Avengers just sucked. Still, the first Young Avengers trade was so good I will literally buy any Young Avengers book out there.
Siege Young Avengers was not as good as I hoped, but it’s getting there. I’ve heard about a new series coming up and ‘m very hopeful about it.

-Cover of the Week-

Daredevil #506

Though I did not enjoy th estory much this week, this cover is amazing. I love the Japanese influence over it.

Ok that’s it for this week.

Latr guys!

New Comics 3/18/10

Wow, some great comics came out yesterday!

Siege #3 doesn’t disappoint but I still don’t know what the hell the Sentry actually is… Someone told me he’s like GOD (in all caps man) or something? I don’t know. The Norman Osborn reveal at the end was amazing, and kinda creepy?

Also great one shot Rhino story in Amazing Spider-man. Kelly tells some of the best current Spider-man stories!

Apparently Batman #697 was pretty rad, but I haven’t had time to read it yet. Who is the Black Mask?! Hell I don’t know.

Still getting the format for the blog down so I’m figuring it out.

Until then latr!

Iron Man 2 Trailer 2

Man-o-man I am so excited about the new Iron Man movie, and this trailer can’t get me any more pumped!

Iron Man 2 comes out on May 7!

Casting-wise, I’m only concerned about Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow. I mean not that I have anything against her, to me she’s still fit as hell. And she looks great as Black Widow, but I’ve seen her other movies and saw what roles worked and didn’t seem to work for her and I just don’t know if this will. Of course we don’t even know if she’ll have an accent or not! I guess time will tell.

What do you think?
